9 things you should never plug into a power strip

Posted on April 28, 2025 By Emerson Solomon No Comments on 9 things you should never plug into a power strip

Certain devices should never be plugged into a power strip due to high energy demands and safety risks. High-powered appliances like space heaters, toasters, and microwaves can cause overheating and fires. Similarly, air conditioners require more energy than a power strip can handle.

Refrigerators and freezers need constant, stable power and can overload strips, leading to damage. Medical equipment such as CPAP machines and oxygen machines must always be plugged directly into a wall outlet to ensure reliability.

Hair dryers, curling irons, and power tools like drills or saws also draw too much power for safe strip use. Even large entertainment systems—TVs, sound systems, and gaming consoles—can collectively exceed a strip’s limits.

Finally, avoid plugging multiple high-wattage devices, like coffee makers and irons, into a single strip to prevent short circuits or fires. Always prioritize safety by plugging high-demand items directly into wall outlets.
