Putting a top sheet “upside down” may seem like a mistake, but in many cases, it is actually intentional. This simple bedding trick is especially useful when the sheet has a decorative pattern, printed design, or a clearly finished side. Instead of placing the attractive side facing upward, you position it toward your body.

The reason becomes obvious when you make the bed. After placing the sheet over the mattress and blanket, you fold the upper section back near the pillows. Because the decorative side was facing downward, the folded portion now displays the pattern on top, creating a neat and intentional border.
