When bitten by a snake, you should do these things first

If bitten by a snake, stay calm to slow venom spread—panicking raises your heart rate and worsens poisoning. Keep the bite area still and positioned below heart level.

Call 911 or your local emergency number immediately for medical help. If someone is with you, have them call and assist in getting you to a hospital quickly.

If safe, try to observe or photograph the snake to help medical professionals identify the species and provide proper treatment.

Avoid any strenuous movement and do not attempt to suck out the venom or apply a tourniquet.

Remaining calm and seeking prompt medical care are crucial to reducing complications from a snakebite.
