Trump under fire for posting fake AI video of Obama being arrested

Donald Trump is facing backlash after posting an AI-generated video on Truth Social showing former President Barack Obama being arrested by FBI agents inside the Oval Office. The video, which lacked any disclaimer indicating it was fictional, was captioned “No one is above the law” and set to The Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.”

The clip begins with real footage of Obama and Trump during their 2016 transition meeting, before cutting to fabricated scenes of Obama in handcuffs and later in federal prison.

The video comes shortly after Tulsi Gabbard, now Director of National Intelligence, accused Obama-era officials of “manufacturing intelligence” regarding Russian interference in the 2016 election. Gabbard claims she’s turning over evidence for possible criminal referrals to the Justice Department, alleging a coordinated effort to undermine Trump’s presidency.

“These actions threaten the very integrity of our democratic republic,” Gabbard said. “Those involved must be held accountable.”

Senator Mark Warner pushed back, calling Gabbard’s accusations “an attempt to cook the books” and discredit the intelligence community.

This isn’t the first time Trump has shared AI-generated content. Critics say this video is a distraction tactic, particularly in light of renewed attention on Trump’s alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

The controversial video has sparked outrage across political lines, with many calling it misleading and dangerous. Legal experts warn that such deepfake content, when presented without context or disclaimers, can erode public trust and spread disinformation.

Despite the backlash, Trump has not removed the video or issued a clarification.
