A devastating helicopter crash in the Hudson River near Manhattan on April 10 claimed the lives of Siemens executive Agustin Escobar, his wife Merce Camprubi Montal, and their three children.
The family, visiting from Barcelona, had boarded a tour helicopter earlier that day. Witnesses say the aircraft appeared to lose its rotors before plunging into the water near Pier 40. All six people onboard, including the pilot, were killed.
Heartbreaking images show the smiling family moments before takeoff. Officials say the helicopter broke apart midair before nosediving into the river. The cause is still under investigation.
Escobar, recently appointed Global CEO of Rail Infrastructure at Siemens Mobility, was praised as a dedicated leader and loving father. His wife Merce also held a leadership role at Siemens Energy.
Tributes poured in globally, including from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who called the tragedy “unimaginable.”
The world mourns the loss of a beloved family.
