Teen Polish Footballer in Critical Condition After Tragic Car Crash
Ksawery Jeżewski, a 17-year-old forward for Legia Warsaw’s U17 team, is in critical condition after a devastating car accident that claimed the life of his older sister. The crash occurred near the town of Goślice, close to Płock in central Poland.
The vehicle, a Toyota Yaris, veered off the road and struck a tree. Despite the swift response of emergency crews—including firefighters, paramedics, police, and an air ambulance—the 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jeżewski was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police have not yet confirmed who was driving the vehicle, though early reports suggest speed was not a factor in the crash.
“A Toyota Yaris left the road for unexplained reasons and hit a tree,” a police spokesperson told Przegląd Sportowy. “The 17-year-old was hospitalized, and the 18-year-old woman died on the spot.”
Legia Warsaw released a statement expressing support for Jeżewski and his family. “The coaches, teammates, and staff of Legia Academy offer heartfelt condolences and stand firmly behind Ksawery,” the club stated. “We will support him and his loved ones in every way we can.”
Jeżewski is considered a rising talent in Polish football. He previously played for Wisła Płock’s youth team and represented Poland in two U17 friendlies against Albania last fall.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash. The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through Poland’s football community.
