Tears Fall as Blake Shelton Sings ‘God Gave Me You’ to Terminally Ill 12-Year-Old in a Moment That Silenced the Room

Blake Shelton Grants Terminally Ill Girl’s Final Wish

In March 2025, Blake Shelton paused his Friends & Heroes tour to fulfill the final wish of 12-year-old Emily Harper, a leukemia patient at the Jimmy Everest Center. Emily’s only request was to hear Shelton sing “God Gave Me You” live. Without hesitation, Shelton flew to Oklahoma, continuing his long-standing support of the center.

On March 10, Shelton arrived at Emily’s hospital room, warmly greeting her before performing an acoustic set. Emily, though weak, beamed with joy, clutching a stuffed bear named after Shelton. Her mother called it a moment they would never forget.

Shelton’s kindness reflects his history of giving back, supporting causes like cancer research and disaster relief.

Emily passed away ten days later, but her family treasures that day as one of her happiest. That night, Shelton dedicated “God Gave Me You” to her memory, offering a powerful reminder of how love and music can heal.
