Henry was raised by his single mother, Edith, who gave him everything she had. They were once inseparable—until Henry met Courtney. After they married, Courtney slowly pushed Edith into being a live-in nanny and housemaid under the guise of “saving money.”
Years later, when Edith became wheelchair-bound, Courtney began calling her a burden and accused her of making her sick by preparing food. Henry, torn between his mother and wife, eventually gave in. “A nursing home is better for everyone,” he told Edith coldly.
Heartbroken but silent, Edith only asked if Henry would visit her on weekends. He promised—but never came.
Three years passed. Courtney cheated on Henry, took all his assets, and turned their son Liam against him. Homeless and alone, Henry finally realized how cruelly he had treated Edith. He rushed to the nursing home to make things right.
But Edith wasn’t there.
“She left two years ago,” the receptionist told him. “Didn’t leave a forwarding address.”
Panic filled Henry. “Where could she have gone? I’m her only family.”
But that wasn’t true anymore. Henry’s betrayal had changed everything. Edith had found peace elsewhere—far from the son who once promised never to abandon her.
