Paralyzed Dog Abandoned with a Bag of Diapers Finds Love Before Her Final Goodbye

Lunetta the Paralyzed Dog Finds Love Before Her Final Goodbye

Many pet owners sadly abandon disabled animals, unable or unwilling to care for them. Such was the case with Lunetta, a sweet paralyzed dog found chained to a railing in Salta, Argentina. Her back legs were strapped to a rusty wheelchair, and she lay helpless, without food or water.

Next to her were a bag of diapers and a note with her name, age, and a heartbreaking message from her former owners saying they could no longer care for her.

Rescue group Luba Salta was quickly contacted. Two volunteers rushed to help, and Lunetta was brought to safety and placed in a foster home. Her story was shared on Facebook, hoping to find someone willing to adopt a paralyzed dog.

An American family soon stepped forward. However, they underestimated the level of care Lunetta needed. Sadly, she contracted a serious staph infection due to neglect, and her health declined.

Just as her future looked grim, another American family offered to help. With proper medical treatment and loving attention, Lunetta made a miraculous recovery.

Her new life was filled with joy—a custom wheelchair gave her freedom, she had a dog sister to play with, and she enjoyed snowy adventures, park runs, and festive family holidays.

After turning eleven, Lunetta became seriously ill and was taken to the ICU at the University Medical Hospital. Surrounded by loved ones, she passed away peacefully.

“I will never forget her,” her adoptive mother wrote. “She changed my life. I loved her so much.”

Though Lunetta’s life ended, her final year was filled with the love and dignity every dog deserves. Her story reminds us that all animals—no matter their condition—deserve care, compassion, and a second chance.
