My SIL and Brother Demanded to Use My Credit Card—When I Said No, They Took It and Got What They Deserved

When I got a student credit card to build credit, I never imagined my own family would betray me. I told only my dad, but word got out. Soon, my brother Mark and his wife Kendra begged to “borrow” it. I refused. Days later, during an uninvited visit, they must’ve swiped it from my wallet.

I realized it was gone when I tried to pay for lunch. Charges started appearing: electronics, gas, pizza. I froze the account and reported the theft.

Then came the call—from the police. Mark and Kendra were caught trying to use the card again. An officer asked if I’d given them permission. I said no.

They were detained. I didn’t press charges, but the fraud mark stuck. Mom came home quietly, and I never got an apology. But they never asked for money again.

Sometimes, drawing a line isn’t cold—it’s the only way to protect yourself.
