My Husband Called Me Lazy for Wanting to Quit My Job While 7 Months Pregnant

At seven months pregnant and exhausted, I asked my husband, Doug, if I could start maternity leave early. Instead of supporting me, he called me lazy and claimed women work through pregnancy all the time. I didn’t argue—I smiled and planned my revenge.

For a week, I became Superwoman: spotless house, gourmet meals, full-time work. Doug praised my “new energy,” completely unaware.

Then Friday came. I arranged a surprise—an all-day fatherhood simulation with a parenting coach and my friend’s screaming twins. While I “went to the doctor,” Doug faced diapers, spit-up, and mayhem.

When I returned, he looked destroyed. I gave him a scrapbook of everything I do daily. He was speechless—and then deeply apologetic.

But the twist? He called his mom to apologize… and learned she didn’t work through pregnancy like he thought. Now he’s supportive, attentive, and says “thank you” a lot more. Mission accomplished—with love and a diaper or two.
