List of all 75 countries that have just been banned from entering US

The Trump administration has ignited global controversy after announcing a sweeping ban on citizens from 75 countries entering the United States, framing the move as part of a broad “reassessment” of immigrant visa processing.

The decision, reported by Fox News, comes early in Trump’s second term, which has already been marked by sharp rhetoric, foreign policy threats, and renewed battles over immigration.

According to the State Department, consular officers have been instructed to refuse immigrant visas under existing laws while screening procedures are overhauled. The freeze is scheduled to begin January 21.

A Homeland Security spokesperson said the pause will remain in place until the U.S. can ensure new immigrants will not “extract wealth from the American people,” arguing that some affected groups become public charges after arrival.

The ban impacts dozens of countries across Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, including Afghanistan, Brazil, Iran, Haiti, Somalia, Nigeria, Russia, and Colombia.

Critics argue the policy unfairly paints entire populations as economic burdens, ignoring data showing many immigrants contribute more in taxes than they receive in public benefits. Advocacy groups warn the freeze will disrupt families and stall long-running legal cases.

The move has also raised diplomatic and logistical concerns ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which the U.S. will co-host with Canada and Mexico. Several participating nations appear on the suspended list.

While officials say the policy targets immigrant visas rather than short-term travel, uncertainty remains over exemptions. With no end date announced, legal challenges and international backlash are mounting as the policy reshapes U.S. immigration priorities.
