A Disney-inspired baby name has caused waves online after two influencers chose it for their daughters—sparking both ridicule and admiration. The name? Bambi.
In January 2023, Love Island stars Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury announced the birth of their daughter. Soon after, Hague revealed the baby’s name with a photo of the little girl’s dreamy bedroom.
The reaction was instant. While some fans adored the unusual choice, others mocked it—calling it “a stripper name.” Hague later admitted she felt hurt: “I know it’s not to everyone’s taste, but to me it’s beautiful.” Fury agreed, saying the name was the only one that ever felt right.
For Hague, Bambi wasn’t random. She had loved the name since childhood, always imagining it for a future daughter. When criticism grew intense, the couple disabled comments to shield themselves from trolling.
Around the same time, Australian TikTok creator Indy Clinton also named her daughter Bambi Valentine. She thought it was rare, laughing when Hague revealed the same choice: “Great minds think alike.”
Clinton explained the inspiration came while reading the Bambi storybook to her toddler son, Navy. Though she once considered naming her daughter Paloma, the moment she was born—with “big brown eyes and a sweet nature”—the name Bambi felt inevitable.
The decision drew divided opinions. Some mocked it, but many others praised the name as “beautiful” and “unique.” Clinton wasn’t fazed: “People will criticize anything these days, so at least give them something to talk about.”
She added that unconventional names are now mainstream: “Bambi fits right in with Rivers, Bears, Forests, Stormis, and Wolfs.” For her, the choice is final: “That is her name, and nothing is going to change that.”
