The Richmond arts community is mourning the loss of 35-year-old stage actor Adam Turck, who tragically passed away after an incident on August 2, 2025. Police say Turck was walking his dog when he encountered a confrontation outside an apartment building. Witnesses reported that he stepped in to help, but the situation escalated, leaving both Turck and another person critically injured. His family later confirmed his passing and shared that he would donate his organs to help save others.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Turck had called Richmond home for more than a decade. During that time, he became a beloved figure in the city’s theater scene, earning multiple nominations and winning Best Actor in 2018 for his role in Hand to God.
Turck’s most recent projects included collaborations with Cadence Theatre and preparation for the lead in Dracula: A Comedy of Horrors. Colleagues described him as a deeply talented performer whose energy and authenticity brought every role to life.
Outside of the theater, Turck was equally admired as a trainer at Tequila and Deadlifts, a local gym where his encouragement and kindness inspired countless clients. Friends say he had a “moral compass made of steel” and never hesitated to help others in need.
“He was the kind of person people write about in books,” said gym owner Kerith Rae, reflecting on his compassion and unwavering integrity.
To honor his memory, friends and family have launched a GoFundMe to support his partner, Chelsea Burke, and to contribute to causes Turck cared deeply about.
The response has been overwhelming, with tributes flooding in from across Richmond’s theater and fitness communities.
Those who knew him say Adam Turck’s legacy will live on through his courage, generosity, and the countless lives he touched—both on and off the stage.
