Sixteen-year-old Korben White made waves online for his bold prom outfit: a voluminous ballgown paired with a sequin-covered tuxedo top that highlighted his vibrant red hair.

His mother, Nina Green, posted a viral video of his prom prep. While many praised Korben’s confidence and creativity, others criticized the look, calling it a “parenting failure.”

Korben, a young drag performer known as Miss Frou Frou, had dreamed of wearing a gown to prom since he was 12. Inspired by Billy Porter’s iconic red carpet fashion, he finally made that dream a reality in 2022.

“He wanted to go as himself,” Green explained, “with a tux on top and a dress on the bottom.”

Despite mixed reactions, Korben’s outfit sparked important conversations around self-expression, gender norms, and acceptance. And above all, he owned the night—true to himself and proud.
