Wicked Tuna’s Charlie Griffin Dies in Boating Accident

Charlie Griffin, a former pilot on Wicked Tuna, died in a boating accident Sunday night in North Carolina’s Outer Banks. He was boating with a friend when they went missing.

The Coast Guard reported that the two boaters were overdue to arrive in Wanchese for boat repairs. They had last been seen at 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

On Monday, first responders found the empty vessel. Inside, they discovered Griffin and his dog, Leila, both deceased. The search for the second missing person is ongoing.

Griffin’s passing was confirmed through a post on his Facebook page, Reels of Fortune, which asked for thoughts and prayers for his loved ones.

Griffin appeared on Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks from Seasons 2 to 5. The National Geographic series follows professional anglers competing to catch valuable fish.
