ABC Shooting: Suspect Targeted Bondi, Patel

Federal Arrest After Sacramento Drive-By Shooting

Federal agents have arrested 64-year-old Anibal Hernandez-Santana after a drive-by shooting outside ABC 10 in Sacramento. The early morning attack on September 19 followed a small protest at the station the previous day. No injuries were reported.

Note Discovered
Investigators recovered a handwritten note from Hernandez-Santana’s vehicle. According to the Justice Department, the note mentioned several public officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Deputy Director Dan Bongino. The language hinted at threats tied to the Jeffrey Epstein case.

Social Media Activity
Authorities also reviewed Hernandez-Santana’s online posts. He frequently criticized former President Donald Trump and expressed readiness to “fight like hell,” raising concerns about his political motives.

Defense Response
Hernandez-Santana’s attorney, Mark Reichel, claimed prosecutors were unfairly portraying his client as a “liberal and left wing” extremist. Reichel argued his client’s political opinions should not be used to strengthen criminal charges.

Release and Rearrest
Local officials initially released Hernandez-Santana on $200,000 bail. However, federal investigators quickly stepped in, rearresting him on charges of interfering with licensed broadcasts, a more serious federal crime.

Current Status
The suspect now remains in federal custody. Prosecutors are examining additional evidence and have not ruled out filing further charges.

Public Response
FBI Director Kash Patel publicly condemned the attack in a statement on X, saying: “Targeted acts of violence are unacceptable and will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.”

Ongoing Investigation
Federal authorities continue to investigate Hernandez-Santana’s motives, possible accomplices, and threats against public officials as the case develops.
