I THOUGHT THEY WERE JUST CURIOUS DEER—UNTIL I SAW WHAT THE LITTLE ONE WAS CARRYING

They weren’t afraid. That’s what struck me first.

Two deer stepped out of the woods while I was tossing hay. They didn’t freeze or bolt—just stood there, watching me. The larger one hung back. But the smaller one stared directly at me, like it knew something.

I laughed, snapped a photo, and joked online: “Unexpected visitors today.” But what happened next didn’t feel like a joke at all.

The smaller deer approached the fence, close enough that I could hear it breathing. Then, without hesitation, it dropped something at my feet—a small bundle wrapped in dark cloth.

Inside was a worn wooden box. And inside that? A heavy silver locket, carved with strange, unrecognizable symbols that made my skin crawl.

When I looked up, the deer was already turning back into the woods, pausing like it wanted me to follow. And I did.

The deeper I went, the quieter it became—no birds, no wind. Just silence. It led me to a hidden clearing, where a massive black-branched oak stood. The deer stood beneath it… and then vanished.

At the tree’s base, the ground had been disturbed. I unearthed a stone tablet with those same symbols. Beneath it: an ancient parchment.

“For the one who is chosen: The truth is not safe. The truth is not gentle. But if you seek it, follow the signs. This is only the beginning.”

That night, I barely slept. Something ancient had found me. I dug into old archives and discovered a legend—about a secret order guarding something called The Veil. The locket? A key. The deer? Their messengers.

I don’t know who chose me. Or why. But something old, something dangerous, has pulled me in.

And now, I can’t turn back.
