Joe Biden hits back at Donald Trump’s investigation

Former President Donald Trump has launched an investigation into whether former President Joe Biden misled the public about his cognitive health while in office. Trump alleges that Biden allowed aides to use an autopen—a device that replicates a signature—to authorize executive actions without his direct involvement.

Trump claims this tactic was used to conceal Biden’s alleged cognitive decline, allowing others to wield presidential power without transparency. In a statement, Trump called it “one of the most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history,” accusing the Biden administration of deceptive governance that led to “radical policy shifts.”

According to the BBC, Trump stated that the American people were “purposefully shielded” from knowing who was actually making key decisions during Biden’s term.

In response, Biden issued a statement firmly denying the accusations. “Let me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency,” he said. “Any suggestion that I didn’t is ridiculous and false.”

Trump’s memorandum, issued Wednesday, directs the White House counsel and Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate whether certain individuals “conspired to deceive the public” and exercised presidential authority unconstitutionally.

The probe comes amid renewed focus on Biden’s health, following his recent disclosure of a prostate cancer diagnosis. Trump and allies argue that Biden knew of his condition while in office and failed to inform the public.

Biden has accused Trump of using the investigation as a distraction while his administration works to push tax cuts favoring the wealthy.

The controversy further deepens the political rift ahead of the upcoming election.
