Donald Trump dementia fears spike as doctor makes new dire claims

Trump Declared “Fit to Serve,” But Experts Raise New Health Concerns

Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed he’s in excellent health — and an April 2025 report from Dr. Sean Barbabella backed that up. According to the White House physician, Trump is “fully fit” to serve, with normal test results and an active lifestyle contributing to his “robust” physical and neurological health.

The report detailed Trump’s height (75 inches), weight (224 pounds), recent cataract surgery, and a benign colon polyp. It also confirmed he takes multiple medications and passed a cognitive test, which Trump himself said he “got every answer right.”

However, not all experts are convinced.

Psychologist Dr. John Gartner, a former Johns Hopkins instructor, voiced concern on The Dean Obeidallah Show, suggesting Trump may be showing signs of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). He pointed to Trump’s changed gait, slow stair-climbing, and an unusual right-leg swing — a movement Gartner says is commonly linked to FTD.

“He really does have trouble getting up stairs,” Gartner noted, referencing video footage of Trump’s past athleticism for comparison. One neurologist he consulted claimed to be “absolutely convinced” that Trump’s movements indicate early-stage dementia.

Speculation has also arisen online about Trump potentially wearing a catheter — something neither confirmed nor denied — further fueling public curiosity.

Though Trump and his team haven’t responded to these claims, the official medical report remains unchanged.

As questions grow, so does the call for greater transparency in presidential health disclosures — especially when cognitive fitness is at stake.
