Trump Declared in “Excellent Health” — But Critics Raise Concerns
Former President Donald Trump, now 78, has been declared in “excellent health” following a comprehensive medical evaluation involving 14 specialists. Dr. Sean Barbabella reported Trump had “robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function,” with no signs of cognitive impairment. Trump has reportedly lost 25 pounds, improved his cholesterol, and remains physically active.
The report also addressed minor sun damage and ear scarring from the 2024 assassination attempt, but overall praised Trump’s health as “fit to serve.”
However, critics aren’t convinced. Republican strategist Rick Wilson slammed the report in a Times Radio interview, calling Trump “incoherent” and pointing to his “verbal aphasias” and rambling speeches as signs of mental decline. He argues Trump’s public behavior reflects possible early dementia, regardless of test results.
Veteran journalist Timothy L. O’Brien echoed concerns, citing Trump’s deep fear of repeating his father Fred Trump’s descent into dementia. O’Brien believes Trump may talk of a third term out of either “self-preservation or self-delusion.”
Trump’s latest health report marks a departure from past vague statements, offering more transparency amid growing scrutiny. Still, some critics argue it’s not enough, pointing out Trump’s last publicly detailed cognitive screening was in 2018.
While Trump’s team defends his fitness, the debate continues: Do official reports tell the full story, or do Trump’s speeches and actions reveal more than his doctors will admit?
