Woman shares four symptoms ‘ignored’ by doctors before being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer

Despite enduring troubling symptoms for nearly a year, a woman named Hannah says her GP repeatedly dismissed her concerns—resulting in a delayed stage 4 cancer diagnosis that could have been caught much earlier.

Hannah, who shares her story with husband Charlie on TikTok under the handle @thattravelcouple, uses her platform to raise awareness about the importance of seeking second opinions when something feels wrong.

Her symptoms began with a persistent cough, body rash, extreme fatigue, and weight loss. Despite her concerns, she was only given antibiotics and denied in-person appointments.

“I was medically gaslit for over eight months,” Hannah said. “It should never have gotten that far.”

As her condition worsened, she was eventually hospitalized with what was believed to be a heart attack. She later learned the real cause: a 12cm tumor pressing on her spine and lungs.

In a shocking misstep, hospital staff initially logged her visit as “period pain.” Only after a nurse intervened did doctors perform an X-ray, which revealed a massive shadow. A CT scan confirmed she had stage 4 cancer.

Now undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and participating in a clinical trial, Hannah is fighting for her life—and to make others aware of the risks of medical dismissal.

“I was told I was dramatic, refused scans, and ignored while a tumor crushed my lungs and heart,” she said. “By the time anyone listened, it was stage four.”

Her message is clear: “Fight for answers. If they won’t give you a test, ask them to document it. It might save your life.”
