Safe Online Transactions in Pembroke: Project Safe Trade

To help reduce fraud during online sales, the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP has launched Project Safe Trade—dedicated community safety zones at 77 International Dr., Pembroke (OPP detachment). Look for the handshake symbol marking secure spots for online marketplace meetups like item pickups or payment exchanges.

Available 24/7 — No appointment needed.
“Online transactions are rising. We’re happy to offer this safety initiative,” says OPP Commander Steph Neufeld. Const. Mike Mahon adds: “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”

🔒 Important: OPP will not monitor transactions but will respond if a crime occurs. Avoid anyone who refuses to meet at this location.

Safety Tips for Online Meetups:

  • Choose busy, public areas

  • Meet during daylight hours

  • Bring a friend

  • Save all communications

  • Inspect items before paying

Stay safe, Pembroke!
