Son Kicks Out 80-Year-Old Mother to Nursing Home, Years Later Doesn’t Find Her There — Story of the Day

When Edith, 80, became wheelchair-bound, her once-devoted son Henry was pressured by his manipulative wife, Courtney, to place her in a nursing home. Though reluctant, Henry gave in after Courtney falsely claimed Edith had endangered her pregnancy. Heartbroken, Edith left quietly, asking only that Henry visit on weekends. He never did.

Years passed. Henry, consumed with fatherhood, forgot about his mother—until karma struck. Courtney cheated, divorced him, took everything, and turned their son Liam against him.

Alone and filled with regret, Henry visited the nursing home to seek forgiveness—but Edith was gone. A receptionist gave him an address.

She had left two years earlier, having married the kind janitor who once cared for her. Henry found her living peacefully in a cozy home. She welcomed him without bitterness.

“You hurt me,” she said, “but I forgave you long ago.”

In that moment, Henry realized: love remains, even when we forget.
