My Sister Kept Walking Around My Husband in Just a Towel and Called It a ‘Test’ – Then One Day, He Did Something That Made Her Turn Bright Red

Two weeks after my sister Kayla moved in, I was already regretting my generosity. Her boyfriend had ended their six-year relationship, leaving her with almost nothing, so I offered her our spare room. At first, she was an easy guest. Then she started walking through our kitchen wearing nothing but a towel.

I asked her politely to stop, especially because my husband, Andrew, was often there. She laughed and told me he was my husband, not a teenage boy. When she did it again, I finally confronted her. Instead of apologizing, Kayla said she was “testing” whether Andrew could be tempted.

That morning, she asked Andrew to reach the coffee filters while wearing the same towel. He looked at her, picked up his coffee, and walked away. I told her, “You’re his problem.” She laughed, but something about her expression told me this wasn’t really about Andrew.

That evening, I told Andrew what she’d said. He promised to stay out of it because Kayla was my sister. A few days later, he finally decided that staying out of it wasn’t enough. He secretly searched for affordable rooms Kayla could rent.

The next time Kayla appeared in the kitchen wearing a towel, Andrew confronted her calmly. He showed her three nearby room listings and told her, “Congratulations. You passed my test.” Kayla was furious, but I explained that temporary help needed a plan. We agreed to look at one of the rooms together.

During the viewing, something changed. The landlord casually asked Kayla about boundaries with roommates, and Kayla admitted she hated people borrowing her clothes without asking. The landlord simply said, “Okay.” Kayla seemed surprised that someone could respect a boundary without demanding an explanation.

On the drive home, I finally asked why she had needed Andrew to fail her test. Kayla admitted her ex hadn’t cheated or abused her. He had simply decided he didn’t want their life anymore. She had wanted Andrew to prove that relationships were all destined to disappoint her.

I told her heartbreak explained her behavior, but it didn’t excuse ignoring my boundaries. Kayla apologized. We created a realistic plan for her to find work and eventually move out. The next morning, she came downstairs wearing an old robe, asked before using Andrew’s coffee, and reached for the filters herself. For once, nobody needed to pass a test.
