San Diego was shaken by a 5.2 magnitude earthquake on Monday at 10 p.m., with the epicenter just a few miles from Julian, a mountain town of 1,500. The tremor was felt as far as Los Angeles, 120 miles away.

According to the USGS, no immediate damage or injuries were reported. However, residents received text alerts about five seconds before the quake hit.

“That was the biggest earthquake I’ve felt since moving to San Diego,” one user posted. Another described fleeing in panic with their child.

NBC shared dramatic footage, including a mother grabbing her baby and a startled cat during the shaking. Aftershocks followed, including a 3.9 magnitude tremor.

The California Department of Transportation warned of fallen rocks on State Route 76. Governor Gavin Newsom confirmed the state is coordinating with local authorities. San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria stated there was no major visible damage and communication is ongoing with officials.
