A mother from Illinois is warning parents after a bath toy nearly cost her 2-year-old son his eyesight.
Eden Strong was bathing her son, Baylor, when she noticed his eye was slightly inflamed. Initially, she assumed it was just irritation from bathwater. But within 12 hours, Baylor’s condition worsened—his eye became severely swollen, and he developed a high fever.
Doctors diagnosed him with cellulitis, a serious bacterial skin infection. The likely culprit? A common squeezable bath toy.
“These toys trap water inside, creating the perfect environment for bacteria to grow,” Eden shared in a viral Facebook post.
Baylor’s eye had dangerously swollen and protruded from his face. Thankfully, after medical treatment, he fully recovered his vision.
Eden shared shocking images of Baylor’s infection, urging parents to be cautious. “I just want others to be aware. These toys seem harmless but can be dangerous,” she said.
