Over 1,000 Bottles of Tec Italy Shampoo Recalled Due to Bacteria Risk
Henkel has voluntarily recalled 1,068 bottles of Tec Italy Shampoo for “dry and damaged hair” after tests revealed contamination with Klebsiella oxytoca, a bacterium naturally found in the body but potentially dangerous if it enters the bloodstream.
The affected products, marked with lot code 1G27542266 and an expiration date of May 27, 2027, were distributed to salons by C&R Beauty, Caesar’s Professional Items Inc., and Vero Beauty Distributors from a Mexican facility. No illnesses have been reported so far.
Klebsiella oxytoca can cause serious infections such as pneumonia or sepsis, especially in immunocompromised individuals. The recall is classified as Class II, meaning the health risk is considered moderate.
This follows a January recall of another Tec Italy product due to possible E. coli contamination. The FDA has not issued disposal instructions for the affected shampoo.
