Tina Turner’s son tragically passes away

Ike Turner Jr., son of music legends Tina and Ike Turner, passed away on October 4, 2025, in a Los Angeles hospital at age 67—just one day after his birthday. His death was confirmed by his cousin Jacqueline Bullock, who revealed that Turner Jr. died from kidney failure after years of heart problems and a recent stroke in September.

His passing adds to a string of tragedies in the Turner family. His mother, Tina Turner, died in 2023 at age 83 following her own battle with kidney disease. In 2017, Tina had received a life-saving kidney transplant from her husband, Erwin Bach, after years of damage caused by high blood pressure.

Born in 1958 to Ike Turner Sr. and Lorraine Taylor, Ike Jr. was raised by Tina Turner, who adopted him and his brother Michael as her own. Despite the family’s turbulent history, Ike Jr. found a passion for music early, encouraged by Tina to move from drums to keyboard and eventually into sound engineering.

After his parents’ split, Ike Jr. continued to work in music, including as Tina’s sound engineer before their relationship faded. In a 2018 interview, he noted they hadn’t spoken in years. He later managed Bolic Sound Studios and contributed to the Grammy-winning Risin’ With the Blues album in 2007.

The Turner family has faced numerous losses. Craig Turner, Tina’s eldest son, died in 2018, followed by Ronnie Turner in 2022. Ike Sr. passed away in 2007. Now, with Ike Jr.’s death, another chapter of this complex family story comes to a close.

Despite personal and familial challenges, Ike Turner Jr. built a meaningful career in music. He is remembered not only as part of a legendary lineage, but also as a skilled, resilient man who carved out his own quiet legacy in the world of sound.
