Donald Trump calls for investigation over

Former President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, experienced an unexpected moment at the United Nations when an escalator they stepped onto suddenly stopped working. The couple was seen holding onto the handrail as they switched to using the stairs. The brief incident quickly attracted public attention and sparked further discussion when Trump addressed it online.

The escalator mishap was not the only technical difficulty during Trump’s appearance. Prior to his speech, both the teleprompter and the sound system reportedly failed. These combined issues led Trump to post on Truth Social, describing the situation as a “triple sabotage,” and referring to it as a “REAL DISGRACE” at the UN.

In response to the incidents, the White House called for an investigation into the causes, particularly questioning whether the escalator stoppage might have been intentional. Officials stressed that there would be “accountability” if it was found to be more than just a technical glitch.

The United Nations, however, stated that the escalator issue resulted from a safety mechanism that was inadvertently triggered. They partially attributed the other technical problems, including the sound and teleprompter failures, to miscommunication with Trump’s own team and equipment setup.

Despite his strong online reaction, Trump seemed to take a more casual tone during his speech. He joked about the situation, saying, “All I got from the United Nations was an escalator that on the way up stopped right in the middle… And then a teleprompter that didn’t work.”

Though the escalator incident was minor, it added fuel to ongoing political debates and became yet another point of contention between Trump, media outlets, and international institutions. Whether viewed as sabotage or coincidence, the episode once again placed Trump at the center of media attention during his high-profile visit.
