Donald Trump announced Friday that the suspect in the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk is now in custody.

Speaking on Fox & Friends, the president said investigators are confident they have apprehended the right person.

“I think with a high degree of certainty we have him in custody,” Trump told the hosts.

The president explained that authorities received critical information from someone close to the suspect.

According to Trump, that tip ultimately led police to make the arrest.

He described the cooperation as a turning point in the investigation, which had drawn intense public attention.

The White House did not immediately provide additional details about the suspect’s identity.

Officials say more information will be released as the investigation continues.
