20-Year-Old Royal Cousin of Princes William & Harry Found Dead
Tragedy struck the British royal extended family when Rosie Roche, the 20-year-old cousin of Princes William and Harry, was found dead at her family home in Norton, Wiltshire, on July 14, 2025.
The young woman was discovered by her mother and sister after she had been packing for a trip with friends. A firearm was found near her body, but police have stated that the death is not suspicious and involved no third party.
An inquest was opened at the Wiltshire and Swindon Coroner’s Court and has been adjourned until October 25. Coroner Grant Davies confirmed the police findings and noted that further investigations are ongoing.
Rosie was a student at Durham University, studying English literature. A spokesperson said she “will be sorely missed.”
An obituary in the Yorkshire Post described her as “Hugh and Pippa’s darling daughter, Archie and Agatha’s amazing sister, and Derek and Rae Long’s granddaughter.” A private funeral will be held, with a memorial service planned later.
Rosie’s lineage ties her to the Barons Fermoy; her grandfather, the 5th Baron Fermoy and Princess Diana’s uncle, also tragically died by suicide in 1984.
This heartbreaking incident comes months after the death of Thomas Kingston, husband to Lady Gabriella Windsor, who died from a gunshot wound. A firearm was also found at the scene. Kingston had been struggling with depression and stopped taking prescribed medication shortly before his death, according to a January inquest.
As the royal family and those close to them grieve another untimely loss, tributes continue to pour in for Rosie—remembered for her warmth, intelligence, and promising future.
